A comparison between Psychology and Spirituality.
Pinarella di Cervia (RA), from March 21st to 25th 2008. Seaside Resort - Pinarella di Cervia (RA) Lecturer: Marco Ferrini, Founder and President of Centro Studi Bhaktivedanta
From March 21st to 25th, in Pinarella di Cervia, a seaside town by the Adriatic Sea, Marco Ferrini held a Seminar entitled Yoga-sutra and Bhagavad-gita. Psychology and Spirituality of India. A journey to discover the real self and improve the inner Wellness of Mankind, Family and Society.
The daily lessons created a stimulating dialogue between the spiritual and scientific contents of these two great Traditions, and allowed the participants to deal with and study themes of vital importance for the nowadays man. Thanks to the speaker’s experience and the excellent interaction among the participants who came from all over Italy, the lessons helped to achieve self-inspection and develop cognitive processes and emotional faculties, useful to detect and solve painful attachments.
Ferrini pointed out that Yoga is a life-style, it is a real science, a way of living, which includes every side of human existence and touches everyday life in a practical and effective way. The first aim of Yoga is to free man from the suffering caused by attachments. It is essential to recognize and deal with human dynamics, inside and outside of us, to become aware of all that is happening as a result of previous actions, to discover our inner resources and superior faculties: this will allow us to make a turn in life and elaborate our unconscious contents, to develop the ability to give and receive love and eventually to free ourselves of those strong hidden chains which prevent us from reaching the luminous dimensions of conscience; in the process, we will rediscover harmony and Bhakti Love in our relationship with God, the world and all living creatures.
The systematic study focused on the first 17 sutras of the Samadhi Pada by Patanjali, in accordance with Bhagavad-gita wise and timeless inspirations, with comments and thoughts taken from Puranic and Upanishadic literature.
The questions asked by the participants were an opportunity to provide for the solution of everyday problems and the understanding of the relationship with our own self and with others.
Besides the two daily lessons, (mornings and afternoons), there were other pleasant occasions to exchange thoughts and compare points of views: during the workshops in between lessons, during the exams taken by CSB students, while strolling along the beach, sharing vegetarian meals, listening to poetry, chanting spiritual songs and watching theatre plays in the evenings.
On the last day, Marco Ferrini guided an intense experience of visualization and meditation, using relaxation techniques to explore personal life experiences, to clear obstacles created by karma and release oneself from personality afflictions.
For the satisfaction and wellness of all those who would like to join us again, the comparison between Yoga-sutra and Bhagavad-gita will continue next Summer with another section, a further experience of growth to reach higher levels of joy and fulfill life in its true meaning.
